Who we are

The Gear Post is an independent editorial site publishing motorcycle gear reviews, buying guides and price comparisons at futureshop.app. You can reach us any time through our contact page.

Information we collect

• Analytics data. We use Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager to understand which pages and product links are useful. This records page paths, referrers, approximate location, device and browser information, and interactions such as clicking an outbound retailer link. We do not send names, email addresses or other personal identifiers into analytics.
• Advertising pixel. A Meta (Facebook) pixel may record page views and conversions so we can measure campaigns that bring readers to the site.
• Newsletter data. If you subscribe, we store your email address, the page you subscribed from and your confirmation status. Subscription is double opt-in and every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• Account and membership data. If you create an account or join the Insider membership, we store your email address and subscription status. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store full card details.
• Contact messages. Messages sent through the contact form are stored so we can reply and keep a record of corrections.
• Click logs. When you follow a retailer link we record the product, link type, referring page and campaign parameters. These logs are aggregate performance data, not profiles of individual readers.

Affiliate cookies

When you click a retailer link, that retailer or its affiliate network may set a cookie so any purchase is credited to us. Those cookies are set by the retailer, not by The Gear Post, and are governed by that retailer's own privacy policy. We currently participate in the Amazon Associates programme and the RevZilla affiliate programme.

How to opt out

• Block or clear cookies in your browser, or use private browsing.
• Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on to stop GA4 measurement.
• Adjust ad personalisation in your Meta account settings.
• Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.
• Ask us to delete your account, newsletter subscription or contact message via the contact page.

Data sharing and retention

We do not sell personal information. Data is processed by the service providers that run the site: our hosting and database provider, Google (analytics), Meta (advertising measurement), Stripe (payments) and our email delivery provider. We keep data only as long as it serves the purpose it was collected for, and we remove it on request.

Children

The site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We update this policy when our tools or practices change. Material changes will be noted on this page.
